Dean Kanganis joined the Buccaneer baseball staff in the fall of 2022 as a volunteer assistant. He was promoted to assistant coach/co-recruiting coordinator in the summer of 2023.
He helped the Bucs win the South Region 2 Tournament and advance to the Super Regional for the first time in program history in 2023. Working with the infielders, he helped Barry improve from 181st in the nation (.911) to 70th in the nation (.952) from 2022 to 2023. Barry finished 12th in the country in double plays turned (47) and double plays per game (0.87).
As the co-recruiting coordinator, he help the Bucs sign the top-rated class in NCAA Division II according to Perfect Game in 2023.
He oversees all infield operations, compiles day-to-day statistics and analysis of defensive efficiency and assists with hitting instruction.
In addition to his duties with the Bucs, he owns Diamond Glove Academy, an infield training company sponsored and partnered with Valle Training Gloves. Over 25 collegiate infielders and two professionals (Brandon Barriera/1st round – Blue Jays and Cory Acton/9th round/Braves) have matriculated through the academy.
He was an assistant coach at Cypress Bay High, Westminster Academy and Cannon Baseball Academy from 2015-2022.
Kanganis played for four years at NCAA Division III Penn State-Harrisburg, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2014.

Brett Young joined the baseball staff in the fall of 2021 as assistant coach. He was promoted to head coach in the summer of 2023.
In his two years as Barry’s recruiting coordinator, he helped lead the effort that saw the Bucs sign the top-rated class in NCAA Division II according to Perfect Game. The Bucs made the NCAA tournament in 2023 for just the fourth time in school history and won the South Region 2 title over host West Florida. Barry posted a 35-19 record and advanced to the Super Regional for the first time in program history.
Young came Barry from Rowan where he helped lead the Profs to a 29-6 record, the regular season and tournament championships in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, the first regional title for Rowan since 2005 and a berth in the NCAA Division III World Series.
Prior to Rowan, he served as the head coach at Paul VI High School for five seasons, from 2015 to 2020, guiding a squad that was ranked in the Top-5 in South Jersey and Top-20 in the state. He began his coaching career in 2006 at his alma mater, Haddon Township High School, where he had two stints for a total of three years (2006-08, 2010). During his time at both schools, he saw 28 of his players move on to play collegiate baseball and had one player – Will Gambino of Paul VI – chosen in the MLB Draft.
He started his collegiate career coaching at as an assistant coach Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 2012 and then recently held the same position for one season at Widener University.
Young, a first baseman and outfielder, played at James Madison University, Gloucester County College (RCSJ-Gloucester) and the University of Delaware. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2002 before an injury cut short his professional playing career.
In 2017, he was inducted into the Haddon Township Athletic Hall of Fame for his playing career in both basketball and baseball.
Young earned his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Oklahoma Panhandle in 2012 and a master’s in secondary education from the University of Phoenix in 2020.
Young and his wife Amanda have a young son named Brock.

DJ Price joined the baseball staff as a volunteer assistant coach in the spring of 2021. He was promoted to full-time assistant and head of the junior varisty program in the fall of 2021. He also serves as the co-recruiting coordinator.
Originally from Bronx, N.Y., he graduated and played baseball for Fordham Preparatory School and Iona College. After college he traveled across the world, playing professionally and coaching in the Greater Brisbane Baseball League in Australia for the Toowoomba Rangers.
Price most recently spent five years as an assistant coach at Lehman College in the Bronx, where he was the outfield/hitting coach and third base coach. In his first year of coaching the Lightning, they led the country in NCAA Division III baseball in home runs per game (1.14). In the summer of 2020, he served as a coach in the Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches with the Palm Beach Snowbirds. He also put together several tournament winning teams while producing hundreds of college-bound student-athletes at the Highlander Training Academy in New York. As the head of baseball/softball training at the HTA, he created many drills and exercises to address speed, agility, and quickness as well as strength and endurance specifically for baseball and softball.
Price has been in and around the strength and conditioning industry for almost 20 years as a master trainer for the National Sports Performance Association and is also a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is also a certified USA Weightlifting Coach and uses several other modes, including TRX and kettlebell training, to keep his athletes in shape.
