Dean Kanganis joined the Buccaneer baseball staff in the fall of 2022 as a volunteer assistant. He was promoted to assistant coach/co-recruiting coordinator in the summer of 2023. 2024 will be his 3rd season at Barry.
He helped the Bucs win the South Region 2 Tournament and advance to the Super Regional for the first time in program history in 2023. Working with the infielders, he helped Barry improve from 181st in the nation (.911) to 70th in the nation (.952) from 2022 to 2023. Barry finished 12th in the country in double plays turned (47) and double plays per game (0.87).
As the co-recruiting coordinator, he help the Bucs sign the top-rated class in NCAA Division II according to Perfect Game in 2023 and 2024.
He oversees all infield operations, compiles day-to-day statistics and analysis of defensive efficiency and assists with hitting instruction.
In addition to his duties with the Bucs, he owns Diamond Glove Academy, an infield training company sponsored and partnered with Valle Training Gloves. Over 25 collegiate infielders and two professionals (Brandon Barriera/1st round – Blue Jays and Cory Acton/9th round/Braves) have matriculated through the academy.
He was an assistant coach at Cypress Bay High, Westminster Academy and Cannon Baseball Academy from 2015-2022.
Kanganis played for four years at NCAA Division III Penn State-Harrisburg, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2014.

Former Buccaneer Ben Terwilliger joined the Barry baseball staff in the fall of 2024 as an assistant coach. He will direct the pitching staff for both the varsity program as well as planning the program for the junior varsity staff.
In the summer of 2024, in the Frontier League, he was named the closer of the year with the Florence Y’alls. He went 4-2 on the mound with five saves, striking out 39 in 36.0 innings with a 4.75 ERA. He also earned a spot on the Frontier League All-Star team.
In 2023, he threw for the Lincoln Salt Dogs (American Association) and Florence last season, combining to go 0-1 with one save in 14.2 innings. He struck out 19.
Terwilliger finished his college career at East Carolina in 2022. He led the Pirates to a 46-21 record and first-place in the American Athletic Conference. He went 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 35 innings. He saved five games and struck out 46 against just 13 walks. He held opposing batters to a .198 average.

DJ Price joined the baseball staff as a volunteer assistant coach in the spring of 2021. He was promoted to the Head Coach in the summer of 2024.
Originally from Bronx, N.Y., he graduated and played baseball for Fordham Preparatory School and Iona College. After college he traveled across the world, playing professionally and coaching in the Greater Brisbane Baseball League in Australia for the Toowoomba Rangers.
Price most recently spent five years as an assistant coach at Lehman College in the Bronx, where he was the outfield/hitting coach and third base coach. In his first year of coaching the Lightning, they led the country in NCAA Division III baseball in home runs per game (1.14). In the summer of 2020, he served as a coach in the Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches with the Palm Beach Snowbirds. He also put together several tournament winning teams while producing hundreds of college-bound student-athletes at the Highlander Training Academy in New York. As the head of baseball/softball training at the HTA, he created many drills and exercises to address speed, agility, and quickness as well as strength and endurance specifically for baseball and softball.
Price has been in and around the strength and conditioning industry for almost 20 years as a master trainer for the National Sports Performance Association and is also a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is also a certified USA Weightlifting Coach and uses several other modes, including TRX and kettlebell training, to keep his athletes in shape.
