Abbie Parde has been named Head Volleyball Coach at Brevard College, announced Director of Athletics Myranda Nash. Parde is elevated to the head coaching position, effective immediately, after serving as Interim Head Volleyball Coach of the Tornados in 2022.
“This past season, Coach Parde proved that she is an outstanding leader of student-athletes both on and off the court,” said Nash. “Abbie is a valuable asset to the Brevard College community and we are very excited about the future of Tornado Volleyball with her at the helm.”
In the 2022 season, Parde led the Tornados to a strong finish with wins in three of the five final matches of the year, including a two-match sweep in the year’s final USA South Conference quad-match.
“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead the Brevard Volleyball program next season,” said Coach Parde. “This team has so much potential to succeed within our conference, and I’m looking forward to coaching them moving forward. Thank you Nado Nation for all your support!”
Parde arrived at Brevard College as an Assistant Coach under Coach Anna Grant in January of 2022. In addition to her role as an assistant coach this past spring, she also served as a Sports Information Assistant in BC’s Department of Athletics. In July, she was named Interim Head Volleyball Coach after the departure of Grant who had been at the helm of BC Volleyball for seven years.
Parde began her collegiate coaching career in August of 2019 as an assistant at Nebraska Wesleyan University, an NCAA Division III and American Rivers Conference member located in Lincoln, Nebraska. In Parde’s first year on the staff, NWU went an impressive 20-8 overall and won its last nine regular-season matches in 2019. In 2021, the Prairie Wolves won their first six matches of the year en route to an 11-win season.
In her role at Nebraska Wesleyan, Parde assisted with practice and game planning to go along with an emphasis on recruiting. Moreover, she led the NWU student-athletes in team culture-building activities while also executing effective social media content and campaigns. During her tenure, Parde also served as Head Coach of the Nebraska Wesleyan Junior Varsity Volleyball team.
Since 2016, Parde was the Head Volleyball Coach at the Nebraska ONE Volleyball Club where she helped develop and prepare young athletes for their high school and collegiate careers. Moreover, Parde was a successful player for several years for Nebraska ONE. She also worked as a reserve volleyball coach for two seasons at Waverly High School in Waverly, Nebraska.
Parde graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with minors in History and Psychology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2019. She earned a Master’s of Education degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2021, including a capstone project entitled “Building Resilience in Student-Athletes”.
