Saint Peter’s University Softball
Alyssa Ruiz was named Head Coach of Saint Peter’s Softball team in August 2024.
Alyssa took over as the Pitching Coach in 2023 to add to her responsibilities as the Outfield
Coach. She is a vital part of Saint Peter’s Softball and has been her entire career. Her first
season as the Pitching Coach saw an improvement in Team ERA, Wins, and Batting Average
against.
Ruiz helped lead the Peacocks through an abbreviated campaign in 2020 due to the early cancelation of the spring season during the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020. After traveling to California and Virginia for a pair of tournaments against a number of talented schools, the Peacocks had begun to build some momentum in early March, stringing together three straight wins — including a doubleheader sweep at Coppin State — at one point to finish with four overall wins through 14 games. But based on the team’s noteworthy improvements with not even a third of the season complete, the program certainly appeared to be in line for its highest win total in recent memory.
Coach came right out of the circle as a Peacock pitcher to the dugout as a coach for the 2018
season. She has worked with NJ Heat Softball and Kaboom Softball. She spends her summer promoting the program at camps and clinics and has had a huge impact on the recruiting front.
Coach Alyssa is a 2017 Graduate of Saint Peter’s and has a Master’s of Arts in Education in
School Counseling from Saint Peter’s Univeristy.
