I knew I wanted to coach from around 9th grade, when I began playing for Coach Buck Gatton at West Iredell High School. Since day one he was as close to a perfect role model as you can be, and I gravitated toward the lifestyle I saw him living; he was a teacher and a coach. I also knew that my shelf life as a player was finite, and I wanted to find a way to stay around the game of baseball while building a family. I contemplated going to umpiring school with a few friends but teaching/coaching seemed to provide more stability for what I was looking for long term. I love the impact that a coach can have on a student athlete, and the way that you can use athletics as a vehicle to teach life lessons to today’s youth. I’m blessed to be here, and in the position I’m in. Langtree has provided me with so many opportunities to grow, both personally and professionally. Still a relatively new school, the flexibility that we’re able to provide allows not only academics but athletics to thrive as well. In the past few years this community has grown exponentially and I’m excited to see the progress in store for 2020-2021.

Langtree Charter Academy is a tuition-free public charter school in Mooresville, educating students in grades K-12. Langtree Charter Academy is governed by North Carolina Charter Educational Foundation and a member of the Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) family of schools. Langtree Charter Academy is open to all school aged students who reside in the State of North Carolina.

Mission – The Mission of Langtree Charter Academy is to build a rigorous and productive learning environment where students can reach their academic potential and where teachers set clear educational goals. We value the relationship between the teacher and student and the role the family plays in a child’s academic and social development. At their foundation, teachers, parents and students at Langtree Charter Academy will have the shared academic philosophy that all children can learn, become self-motivated life-long learners, function as responsible citizens, and realize their potential as productive members of the local and global societies and the 21st century workforce. A focus on citizenship and experimental learning through community engagement will be present at every grade level. In high school I played Baseball and Basketball.

I coached baseball and football for 5 years in Morton, IL and I have also coached travel baseball for the last 3 years in Mooresville, NC.

Family life

I currently in Mooresville, NC with my wife (Bobbie), daughter (Mia) and son (Luca). We have called Mooresville area home since moving from Illinois 3 years ago.

Why you want to coach

I want to coach because I love to see young men and women grow; both as athletes and as scholars in the classroom. To me, coaching isn’t having the best team, it is seeing the kids develop as leaders and excel as student athletes on and off the field. I enjoy being part of a team and being a leader; being a role model for kids and encouraging them to be the best that they can be.

I am grateful to be part of Langtree family because it is giving me a chance to do what I love; coach baseball and to help young men become better student athletes both on and off the field. I look forward in helping grow the baseball and athletic program.
