Coach Dash O’Neill is entering his eighth season as the Head Coach of the Georgia Highlands College baseball team. Under his guidance, the Chargers have achieved unprecedented success on and off the field. Notably, the team secured its highest NJCAA ranking (#9 NJCAA) in history, earning third place in the GCAA with a remarkable 33-21 record in 2023. During his tenure, players like Ryan Wideman received NJCAA All-American honors, and several Chargers were named to the All-Conference Team and NJCAA All-Academic Team. A testament to Coach O’Neill’s dedication, an impressive 98 players have advanced to four-year institutions since 2017.

Coach O’Neill’s track record speaks of championships and shattered records. In 2022, the Chargers claimed their second consecutive GCAA Conference Title and second NJCAA Region XVII Championship with a standout 45-11 record. The team’s accomplishments continued with impressive player awards and national rankings. The 2021 season followed with a program-record 42 wins and a second conference championship during O’Neill’s tenure. Numerous records were set, and players like Conner Todaro and Johnny Dow received prestigious accolades, contributing to the team’s remarkable success.

Before leading the GHC baseball team, Coach O’Neill spent 12 years at NJCAA powerhouse Chattahoochee Valley Community College, where he left a profound impact. With a background in catching and pitching, O’Neill’s expertise as a coach earned Chatt Valley offensive dominance. He played a key role in rewriting the record books for runs, hits, home runs, and more. O’Neill’s commitment to excellence extends beyond baseball, as he holds degrees in Psychology and Sport Management from Troy University and is pursuing a degree in Professional Counseling at Grand Canyon University.

Atlanta native James Williams begins his first season at GHC as the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach on Dash O’Neill’s staff.  In addition to those duties, Coach Williams will instruct the outfielders in their day to day defensive work.  Coach Williams comes to Cartersville from Mobile, Alabama where he served as the Jaguars’ Director of Player Development during the 2023 season.  While at South Alabama, Coach Williams assisted with the pitchers and catchers and saw three of his players drafted in the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft.  Prior to his time in Mobile, James served as the Director of Player Development and Bullpen Coach at his alma matter, the University of Georgia. The bulldogs went 46-17 during the 2019 season, going 21-9 in Southeastern Conference Play, and they earned a seed in the NCAA National Tournament.  During his stint with the Bulldogs, UGA had a record of 91-46, 3 All-Americans, 3 freshman All-Americans, 3 All SEC selections, and 2 All freshman SEC players.  A graduate of Harrison High School, Williams was an All-Region pitcher, catcher, and third baseman for the Hoyas, lettering in all four seasons.  He helped lead Harrison to the final four of the GHSA AAAAAA state tournament.  Coach Williams attended the University of Georgia (2017-20), where he saw action both on the mound and behind the plate while lettering in three seasons.  Georgia won 39 games in 2018, hosting a regional in Athens before falling in the finals.  James earned SEC Honor Roll in 2017-19 and graduated with a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Georgia.

Dahlton Cash is entering his first season as an Assistant Coach at GHC.  He will be responsible for coaching the catching corps at Highlands as well as assisting with the offense and the strength and conditioning program.  Most recently, Coach Cash spent two years as an Assistant Coach at Young Harris College where he helped lead the Mountain Lions to a 77-36 record.  Cash worked specifically with the infielders and catchers at YHC, and he managed the Mountain Lions’ in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs.  In 2022, the Mountain Lions won their second Peach Belt Conference Tournament title, while earning the second trip to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in three seasons. Young Harris finished that season ranked No. 25 in the Collegiate Baseball NCAA DII Coaches Poll.  In 2023, the Mountain Lions finished second in the conference with Cash producing four 1st team All-Conference infielders.  He helped lead the Mountain Lions to the most PBC wins in program history and had three players named to the NCAA D2 All-Region Second Team.
Coach Cash graduated from Newnan High School where he was an All-State selection before attending Andrew College in 2017 and 2018.  At Andrew, Cash was a key element to the Fighting Tigers offense belting 6 home runs and 24 doubles in his career while driving in 53 runs.  After completing his JUCO eligibility, Coach Cash continued his playing career at Young Harris College where he was named first team All-Conference as both a junior and senior.  After helping the Mountain Lions to their first ever Peach Belt Conference Tournament Title and NCAA Division II Regional Berth, he was honored with a place on the PBC All Tournament team.  During his career at Young Harris, Cash carried a .327 career batting average while tallying 14 home runs, 39 doubles, and 104 RBIs.  Dahlton graduated from Young Harris College in 2021 with a Bachelors degree in Business Management.
