Northern Kentucky Baseball Camps
Dizzy Peyton was named the third head coach in Northern Kentucky baseball’s program history on June 8, 2021 by Ken Bothof, director of athletics.
Peyton spent the previous 17 years on the Norse bench as an assistant coach, where he was responsible for the development of the Norse pitching staff. Since joining the NKU staff in 2005, Peyton has sent ten pitchers into the professional ranks, including four by way of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Nate Jones, who was taken in the fifth round as the 179th pick, highlights that list.
NKU registered five-straight NCAA Division II Regional Tournament appearances from 2008-12 and six regional bids overall. The Norse also won a pair of GLVC titles in 2008 and 2009. Following the transition to NCAA Division I status, Peyton helped the Norse to a third-place Horizon League finish in 2017 and the program’s first postseason win of the era with an opening round victory in the Horizon League Tournament.
Off the field, Peyton has been a leader throughout Norse Athletics, the University and region as well. NKU baseball received the 2018 Horizon League Bobby Fong Award, presented annually to the person or team that displays integrity, respect and stewardship. Norse baseball’s inclusive environment and welcoming nature in support of team manager Ryan Mavriplis served as a key reason the team won the honor. Peyton is a mentor and close friend to Mavriplis, who has Down Syndrome. Norse baseball annually volunteers at the Buddy Walk hosted by the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, an effort organized by Peyton. He has also been a chaperone on three mission trips to the Dominican Republic featuring both students and student-athletes at NKU which is traditionally taken in early January and provides support to under-privileged areas.
His leadership has extended to the classroom as well. Impressively, Norse baseball has posted a team GPA above 3.0 in each of the last 14 semesters.
Peyton played one season with the Norse in 2003. He maintained a 3-3 record with a 4.44 earned run average, striking out 44 batters while walking just 20. Post-season Tommy John surgery ended Peyton’s playing career after just one season.
Peyton is a native of South Lebanon, Ohio. He currently resides in Highland Heights with his wife Amanda and three children, Dirk, Wesley and Trudy.

Steve Dintaman was announced as an assistant baseball coach/recruiting coordinator by Norse head coach Dizzy Peyton in July 2021.
Dintaman has been a fixture in the collegiate baseball scene in the region since 2004. After spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, he took over as skipper of the program in 2007 and spent 13 seasons as the Tartan’s head coach.
During his tenure, Dintaman racked up a 510-168 (.752) record with nine OCCAC Conference Championships and 11 NCJAA regional appearances, which included two regional championships (2016, 2018) and three runner-up finishes (2009, 2015, 2017). He led Sinclair to third- and fifth-place finishes in the NJCAA World Series in 2016 and 2018, respectively. The Tartans were nationally ranked every year since 2009, reaching top-5 status in eight of those years. The 10-time OCCAC Coach of the Year was also twice named NJCAA North District & Region Coach of the Year.
Student-athletes flourished under Dintaman. Over 100 of his players went on to compete at four-year institutions, 80 of which went to Division I programs. Six former players were selected in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Accolades for his players were numerous – 42 Academic All-Americans, six All-Americans, 60 OCCAC All-Conference, five OCCAC Players of the Year and eight OCCAC Pitchers of the Year.
In addition to the 42 Academic All-Americans, Dintaman’s team’s garnered recognition as NJCAA Academic All-America Teams six times.
Dintaman and his wife Kristen have two daughters, Harper Noelle & Zoey Nicole.
The Northern Kentucky baseball program welcomed the addition of new assistant coach Andrew Elliott this week as was announced by head coach of the Norse Dizzy Peyton in September of 2023.
“We are extremely excited to announce the newest member of our coaching staff, Andrew Elliott,” discussed head coach Dizzy Peyton. “Norse Nation please join us in welcoming Andrew and his wife Randi into the Norse family. Andrew will serve as our pitching coach and I’m eager for him to get to work with our pitching staff. Coach Elliott has done a tremendous job at each of his stops, at Lincoln Trail College and Lee University and he will be a great addition to our staff. He’s a proven winner and I look forward to him helping us continue the upward trajectory of the NKU baseball program.”
Elliott will serve as the Norse pitching coach as he gets his NKU pitching staff prepped heading into the 2024 spring season. Elliott joins Northern Kentucky after working as the assistant baseball coach at Lee University located in Cleveland, Tennessee, and Lincoln Trail College out of Robinson, Illinois.
He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 30th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft and was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Orioles, a rookie-level affiliate of the program. Elliott earned his way up to the Aberdeen IronBirds that same year who are a High-A affiliate of the Orioles. He went on to pitch for the Delmarva Shorebirds, a Single-A affiliate of Baltimore in 2016 as well. Andrew compiled a career earned run average of 3.54 over 157.0 total innings, with a strikeout to walk ratio of 3.60 in his 107-game pitching career with the Orioles, Aberdeen IronBirds and Quebec Capitales (Frontier League).
His baseball career is certainly a familiar one to the Norse as Elliott spent five seasons with NKU rival Wright State from 2011-2015. He earned himself numerous accolades during his time with the Raiders including being named an All-American during his junior season, was named Horizon League Reliever of the Year twice, First-Team All-League, Stopper Watch List selection, All-Midwest selection, WSU Ron Nischwitz Award and was a two-time Horizon League Pitcher of the Week.
Elliott graduated from Wright State University with a bachelor of science degree in organizational leadership.
Hunter Losekamp joined the Norse baseball program as the volunteer assistant coach in July 2021 and coaches the catchers for NKU.
The native of Milford, Ohio, comes to NKU after spending three seasons on the staff at Huntington University, where he also spent his final two playing years as a catcher before graduating with a degree in Business Management in 2018. As a member of the coaching staff, Losekamp served as the Forester’s recruiting coordinator and first base coach. During his playing days, he was part of Huntington’s 2017 team which won both the Crossroads Conference regular-season and tournament titles en route to the NAIA National Tournament
