The 2023 baseball season was Coach Bennett’s 21st season at the helm. His overall record at FCC is 719-286. On April 6th, 2022, Bennett reached a significant coaching milestone as he earned his 700th career win. On May 5, 2022, Bennett coached his 1000th game as a Head Coach in the college ranks.
Coach Bennett has led the Cougars to the Region XX Tournament 19 times, including 12 trips to the championship game and five trips to the NJCAA Division II World Series in 2007, 2010, 2015, 2021, and 2022.
227 former players have moved on to four-year institutions under Bennett’s tutelage. The 2011 team spent six weeks ranked No. 1 in the nation, the first FCC team in any sport to reach that milestone, while the 2010 team achieved a record for wins in a season and earned a trip to the NJCAA Division II World Series.
Coach Insley has been coaching for more than 25 years at high school and collegiate levels. He was on staff at Frederick Community College for all six of the Cougars World Series appearances, and served as their Pitching Coach from 1998-current. Prior to FCC, Steve served as a Head Coach for Liberty High School in Eldersburg, Maryland, leading them to their first ever Maryland State Championship in 1997.
Dan Gerjets returns to Frederick Community College after spending the two previous seasons as an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary’s. Prior to his time at the Mount, he served the past 10 years coaching baseball in the Maryland Junior College Conference. He started at Anne Arundel Community College serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. In the last three seasons, he has helped lead the Frederick Community College Cougars as an assistant coach to 111 wins, which included two region championship runner-up finishes, one region championship, and a district championship runner-up finish.
Before entering the Maryland junior college coaching ranks, Gerjets worked camps and clinics, gave private lessons, and served as a volunteer coach at his alma mater, South Carroll High School. He also was an assistant coach at Mount Airy Senior Legion Post 191 where he helped lead them to the American Legion World Series after winning the state, district, and region tournaments.
Gerjets is a Mount Airy, Md., native and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from George Mason University.

What equipment should be brought to camp?
All players should wear baseball pants, belt, hat and baseball appropriate top. Players should also bring their own glove, baseball bat, baseball cleats, running shoes (or turf shoes), and helmet. Catchers are required to bring their own catching gear.
What safety measures are put in place for camps?
The safety and well-being of our campers are our top priorities. We have qualified staff on-site to supervise all activities, and our facilities are well-maintained and regularly inspected for safety. In case of emergencies, we have first aid kits readily available.
Can parents observe camp sessions?
Yes, parents are more than welcome to observe the camp sessions. We have designated areas for spectators to watch their children as they develop their skills and enjoy the camp experience.
Will my child have the opportunity to interact with college coaches during camp?
Yes, your child will have ample opportunities to interact with college coaches coaches. We believe in fostering a positive and supportive environment for all campers to learn from experienced collegiate athletes and coaches.
