Camp refunds will be given in the form of a Camp Credit.

The 2023 Lions Prospect Camp will run from 9am to 5pm with check-in starting at 8:15am. The day will be split up with a morning session, followed by campers being dismissed for lunch and returning for an afternoon session. The morning session will consist of working technique/mechanics for hitting, outfield/infield and pitching/catching. The morning session is designed to allow prospects to work closely with the softball coaching staff, as well as engaging with members of the Mars Hill University Softball team. The afternoon session will consists of modified games with the coaching staff and members from the softball team coaching on the field.

Alissa Edwards was named head softball coach in June, 2023.

Edwards joined Mars Hill after serving as the head softball coach at the University of Maine at Presque Isle since 2019. Edwards also served as the Senior Woman Administrator, Retention Coordinator, and SAAC Advisor in 2022. She was also an adjunct faculty member as an instructor of exercise science, teaching two classes since 2021.

She was named the North Atlantic Conference Softball Coach of the Year in 2021 while serving as the conference’s Vice Chair from 2021-2022. She then served as the Chair, beginning last fall. She also is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports.

Edwards was a star softball player at UMPI. In 2018, she was named an USCAA Academic All-American and during her junior year, was recognized with the Al Arman “Make a Difference” award. Her senior season saw her be awarded the Stanley Small Coaches Award.

She graduated from UMPI in 2019 with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training. She obtained her master’s degree in organizational leadership in May, also from UMPI.

Assistant Softball Coach Read more Read less

Dexlie Inman was named assistant softball coach in the fall of 2023.

Inman will take on the role as the team’s infield coach and offense coach. Inman will also assist with recruiting and act as the camp coordinator, as well as executing other duties for the program. Inman spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Gardner-Webb University where she helped develop players’ skills all around the diamond, organized and executed daily practice plans, as well as conducted weekly one-on-one meetings with the student-athletes to monitor their academic workload and mental health. During her time at GW, Inman primarily served as the team’s infield coach as well as assisting with the team’s offense. During those two seasons, Inman helped coach a First Team All-Conference outfielder, All-Freshmen Team infielder, and Honorable Mention outfielder as well as three Big South Players of the Week.

Inman works as a camp instructor for Tier One Fast Pitch and College Coaches Skills Camp CCSC as well as serving as a private hitting and fielding instructor. In 2021, she served as the high school varsity assistant coach at her alma mater in Union, South Carolina. In 2016, Inman entered her college career after being named South Carolina Player of the Year and earning an All-American title. Inman was a four-year starter at the College of Charleston from 2016-2020 as a middle infielder. She served as captain on the team during her final two seasons (2019-20) and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team in 2019. During that year, she led the team in doubles, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and tied for second in runs scored. That same year, Inman left her mark in the record book with her doubles total ranked fourth highest in school history and walks total ranked fifth highest in school history.

In 2017, she was named the “Charleston Way Spirit Award” winner, awarded to the athlete that upholds the cultural values of the team that included integrity, gratitude, competitive spirit, unity, and pride. She graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in coaching.
