This is a great event, and a chance to commemorate our softball and baseball teams accomplishments, welcome friends, family and alumni to see our beautiful campus and a chance to connect with all members of the organizations. We want to kick-off the 2024 season with a great night. We will have an open bar to those in which it applies, and be raffling off some wonderful SEU themed prizes. We will be eating fine Italian catered cuisine and will contain some awards, speeches and spring break information as well. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Ray Orta
Assistant Coach Read more Read less

Ray Orta is an assistant coach on the excellent coaching staff of the Eagles Baseball team.

Blake Saperstein
Head Softball Coach Read more Read less

Saperstein is ready for the challenge of “walking into a program that is fresh off of a historic season,” and further explained “How exciting it is to defend a conference title, a challenge I’m sure this group of young ladies is ready to take on.”

Prior to arriving at St. Elizabeth, Saperstein was the assistant coach at Bloomfield College from 2020 to 2023.  In her first season there, she helped lead the team to their first CACC Division II Conference Championship game, the first time Bloomfield College had made a trip to the finals since 2012.

Saperstein’s passion for mental performance led her to apply the Sports Psychology Degree she earned at Montclair State University and launch a Mental Performance program for the softball team at Bloomfield College. This program helped her players navigate and cope with the demands of being a student-athlete, and she is excited to bring her experience in this area to her players at SEU. “I’m about creating a culture that puts these outstanding student athletes in the best position to thrive not just on the field, but also in the classroom and within their social lives.”

Outside of her important mental performance work with the softball team, Saperstein played an invaluable role at Bloomfield in daily practices, recruiting, fundraising, and player development.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Saperstein has also been one of the head coaches for the New Jersey Fight Softball Organization, one of the top travel softball organizations in the area, for the past six years.

Saperstein had her own impressive collegiate career as a student-athlete as a four-year starter on the Montclair State University Softball Team. In 2019, she was named 1st Team NFCA Division III East All-Region, First Team All-NJAC, before her playing career was cut short in 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Saperstein graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Sports Psychology.

“I’m so fortunate to be able to work with Jennifer Virgil as she puts in motion her vision for the St. Elizabeth University Athletic Department,” Saperstein stated.  “I also look forward to meeting my colleagues and getting to know some of their athletes, I think it is important to have camaraderie across all St. Elizabeth sports.”

As Saperstein puts it, “What a great time to be an Eagle.”
