
Jonathan Tsipis Basketball Camps

Jonathan Tsipis (pronounced SIP-iss) is the head women’s basketball coach at Western Carolina University, bringing over 27 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Catamounts. He was appointed as the program’s 14th head coach on April 5, 2024. In his inaugural season, Tsipis led WCU to 13 wins—the program’s highest total since the 2013–14 season—and secured its first victory at Samford since 2009, marking a significant turnaround for the team.
Before joining Western Carolina, Tsipis served as the Advisor for Scouting and Analytics at Marquette University from 2022 to 2024. During his tenure, the Golden Eagles achieved back-to-back 20-win seasons and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
Tsipis’s head coaching career includes successful stints at George Washington University (2012–2016) and the University of Wisconsin (2016–2021). At George Washington, he transformed the program into a national contender, leading the Colonials to a 92–38 record over four seasons. His teams won consecutive Atlantic 10 regular-season and tournament titles in 2015 and 2016, with Tsipis earning A-10 Coach of the Year honors in 2015.
Prior to his head coaching roles, Tsipis was a key figure on the University of Notre Dame’s women’s basketball staff under Hall of Fame coach Muffet McGraw from 2003 to 2012. As associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, he contributed to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including five Sweet 16s and two national runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2012.
