Mills joins the Vikings after serving three seasons with the Pride at Greensboro College, where she was named the head softball coach in 2021.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Mills to team Vikings! As we return a strong core and welcome many new members to the program, team culture is our priority. We are confident that investing in the person builds the trust to develop the athletes and will continue to push us to be a competitive championship program.

I’m confident in Coach Mills’ ability to lead the special group of young women,” says Dr. Angel Mason.

Last season she led the Pride to 28 wins and a conference championship appearance. In her first season with the Pride, Mills led the squad to a 26-13 record and finished second in the USA Southeast Division earning them a spot in the Conference Tournament. She then turned around and led the team to a historical season in her second year at the helm. The Pride finished the 2023 season with a program-best overall record of 33-10. Mills led the Pride to host the first round of the conference tournament, where they finished first in their pod. The team had a brief regional ranking and National recognition.

Before joining Greensboro, Mills spent six years at her alma mater, North Carolina Wesleyan University as an assistant coach.

While at N.C. Wesleyan, Mills assisted in leading the team to its first USA South regular season title since 1996 and helped lead them to an East Division Title in 2021.

Mills has coached a Conference Pitcher of the Year, All-Region First-Team and Second-Team selections, and Academic All-District student-athletes.

During her time with the Battling Bishops, she spent two years as a softball instructor at the Competitive Edge Academy. Before returning to her alma mater, she had a successful two-year stint as Sports Director for the Twin Rivers YMCA in New Bern.

Mills is a 2013 Wesleyan graduate with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. As an undergraduate, Mills was a four-year letter winner in softball.

As a player, she twice garnered USA South First Team All-Conference honors at first base as well as team MVP for the Bishops two years in a row. Mills went on to serve one season as a student assistant softball coach for head coach Brackett while completing her degree.
