This camp is designed for aspiring athletes who want to take their game to the next level by receiving personalized instruction directly from the entire Maryland Coaching Staff. Modeled after a University of Maryland Baseball practice, this camp will provide invaluable insights and hands-on training to help you elevate your skills.

Personalized Instruction: Work closely with Maryland’s elite coaching staff, who will provide detailed feedback & tailored guidance to each participant.
Pro Style Workout: Engage in a professional-style workout that mirrors the routines and drills of the University of Maryland Baseball team.

Saturday Day 1: Instruction and Showcase Day (9am to 3:30pm)

– Batting Practice: Take batting practice on the field, where coaches will evaluate your swing, technique, and power.
– Individual Defensive Practice: Sharpen your defensive skills with position-specific drills and expert coaching.
– Pitching Instruction: Receive specialized pitching instruction to improve your mechanics, accuracy, and overall performance.
– Secondary Pitchers: Secondary pitchers will have the opportunity to throw bullpens.
– Pitcher Only Program: If you choose to participate as a Pitcher Only, you will be involved in the following below on Saturday.

1: Band Work and Plyometrics: Engage in band work and plyometric exercises to enhance your strength, flexibility, and conditioning.
2: Warm-up and Pitching Talk: Participate in warm-up routines and pitching discussions led by the Maryland Coaching Staff.
3: Coaching Insights: Learn what Maryland coaches look for in pitchers and understand how they evaluate players during warm-ups, games, and bullpen sessions.

(If you register as a Position Player, you can choose both a Primary and Secondary Position.)
To make changes to your primary and secondary positions, do so by clicking (Edit Ticket) after logging into your account using the email you entered in at checkout. If you make changes to your positions, please do so 7 days before the camp.

Sunday Day 2: Organized Game with Live Pitchers

– Saturday Game 1: 9am Start Time
– Saturday Game 2: 12:30pm Start Time

Pitcher Only: Will showcase their skills by pitching 2 innings or facing 8 batters in Day 2 live game.
Primary Pitchers: Will showcase their skills by pitching 1 inning or facing 4 batters in Day 2 live game.
Secondary Pitchers: Bullpen on Day 1

– Game Schedule: Games will be broken up throughout the day. You will be notified of your specific game time prior to the camp, ensuring you have ample time to prepare and perform at your best.

Matt

Matt Swope ‘03, who has been associated with Maryland baseball for more than two decades was named head coach of the Terrapins by Damon Evans, Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics on June 12, 2023. Swope has been a part of the Maryland baseball staff for the past 11 seasons as the Terrapins advanced to six NCAA Regionals and two Super Regionals. Maryland won back-to-back Big Ten Championships in the last two seasons and won its first Big Ten Tournament Championship this past season, with Swope serving as associate head coach. He is the ninth head coach in the 132-year history of Maryland baseball as he replaces Rob Vaughn, who was hired at the University of Alabama.

All camps are held at Shipley Field at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium on the University of Maryland – College Park campus. Shipley Field is located on Fieldhouse Drive, directly behind the Adele H. Stamp Student Union.

All attendees must bring their own equipment to camp. This includes bats, gloves, helmets, batting gloves, and catcher’s gear for catchers. Shipley Field at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium has a turf infield, so remember to bring either rubber spikes or track shoes in addition to metal spikes. Pitchers are permitted to wear metal spikes on the pitcher’s mound.

We do not offer refunds of any kind. However, if you are unable to attend a camp that you have registered for, a credit can be applied to the cost of a future camp.
