Head Women's Softball Coach Read more Read less
Santa Fe College Athletics officially announced the hiring of Savanah Webster as the Head Coach of Santa Fe Softball on August 16, 2021.
Webster is the fourth Head Coach in program history. In her first season in 2022, SF posted an overall record of 32-19 with a 13-7 mark in the MFC. The Saints held a 21-6 record on their home field, and the 32 wins overall surpassed the mark of 31 in 2021, continuing the program’s upward trajectory.
Coaching Background
Webster came to Gainesville with NCAA Division I experience of her own as both a student-athlete and coach. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Softball Coach at Winthrop University in Rockhill, S.C.
While with the Eagles for nearly three years, Webster was instrumental in recruiting, player development, budgeting, community service initiatives, schedule and travel arrangements, and the success of Winthrop Softball camps.
In 2019, she helped Winthrop to a runner-up finish in the Big South Conference. In 2021, the Eagles ranked at or near the top of the conference in a number of statistical offensive categories, including: home runs (No. 1), walks (No. 1), slugging percentage (No. 2), runs scored (No. 3), hits (No. 3), on-base percentage (No. 3), and stolen bases (No. 3).
From August 2015 until May 2017, Webster served as the Assistant Softball Coach at NCAA Division II Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.
The Patriots’ program provided Webster with a wealth of responsibility in her first collegiate coaching role. She contributed significantly in a variety of different ways, which included (among others): fundraising, academic advising, and the implementation of the team’s strength and conditioning program.
Webster holds certifications with Driveline and OnBaseU, and additionally was the 2021 Head Coach of the Manatee Impact of the Florida Gulf Coast League.
Playing Career
Webster began her collegiate playing career in the NJCAA at Salt Lake Community College, where she was an All-American during each of her two seasons with the Bruins in 2011 and 2012. SLCC was incredibly successful during Webster’s career at the institution. She hit .503 her freshman year at SLCC with 53 RBI and 13 home runs. Webster and SLCC finished as the NJCAA runner-up in both of her seasons, and in 2012, she was named the Offensive Player of the NJCAA Tournament.
Webster then joined the Marshall Thundering Herd in the NCAA Division I C-USA. In 2013, she led the team in slugging percentage (.563) and ranked second in average (.313). In 2014 as a senior, Webster started all 49 games she played in and was named to the Conference-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She was named the C-USA Player of the Week for the week of April 7, and finished her final collegiate season with sensational numbers, batting .326 with 44 hits, 23 runs, 32 RBI, seven home runs, 24 walks, three stolen bases, a .578 slugging percentage, a .455 on-base percentage and a .968 fielding percentage. Webster’s 2014 on-base percentage of .455 was the sixth-highest number in school history.
Webster helped elevate the Marshall program to earn their first-ever C-USA Championship in 2013, as the Thundering Herd advanced to regional play where they earned a 3-1 win over Notre Dame before finishing the season with a record of 36-22. The regional victory was the program’s first since 1996…In 2014 (Webster’s final season), Marshall made it to the C-USA Championship game for the third consecutive time. Full Bio

In 2022, SF posted an overall record of 32-19 with a 13-7 mark in the MFC. The Saints held a 21-6 record on their home field, and the 32 wins overall surpassed the mark of 31 in 2021, continuing the program’s upward trajectory.

Chronister holds plenty of experience from an illustrious playing career at the University of Florida. She was a left-handed pitcher for the Gators from 2017-2021, and helped UF acquire three SEC Championships.

The native of Gainesville was the 2016 Florida Gatorade Player of the Year, and will undoubtedly continue to help mentor the Saints’ pitching staff as they perform from inside the circle.
Chronister: “Being a part of this program brings out my competitive drive to make an impact on these girls, in the hopes that they will leave the program better than they found it for the future group of Saints athletes.
