Rosilyn Cummings
Head Coach Read more Read less

Russell Sage College’s Director of Athletics Jim Lyons has announced the selection of Rosilyn Cummings (Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown) as the next head women’s volleyball coach and she will start her new role on May 15. She replaces Sandy Augstein-Collins, who retired in March. She becomes the 15th coach of the sport that played its first matches in 1971.

Lyons commented, “Russell Sage College is thrilled to be adding Rosilyn Cummings to our family!” He added, “We are excited to bring Rosilyn back to her roots in New York Volleyball, where her connections and experience will be a major asset to our department.  Rosilyn’s high energy style and her growth mindset approach will have an immediate impact on our women’s volleyball program. Please join me in welcoming Coach Cummings to our Sage athletic family!”

Cummings commented, “I am thrilled to become a part of the Russell Sage Volleyball Program.” She added, “Every interaction I’ve had with the administration, the student-athletes and the staff has been fantastic. I’m really looking forward to contributing to the culture and success of the program and athletic department at Sage. I look forward to getting back to my roots in New York as the Volleyball community grows stronger each year!”

She arrives at RSC after serving as the Team Kiwi Volleyball Club Coordinator (Tampa, Florida). She has extensive coaching experience having served as the assistant coach of the Icelandic Men’s National Team in 2017. She also served as the head coach of the Stjarnan Men’s Volleyball Club in Iceland for two seasons in 2016-2017, where she was named Coach of the Year. She has also served as the program director for the Volleyball Academy of America and is currently a lead coach for the Gold Medal Squared Volleyball Camp. Among her many other accomplishments, she was the director of the IREVA Professional Volleyball League.

Cummings has enjoyed success at the collegiate level having served as the assistant volleyball intern for her alma mater, SUNY Plattsburgh. She also was the assistant women’s volleyball coach for Connecticut College and Williams College. In addition to her role with the women’s volleyball team at Williams, she also served as the assistant waterpolo coach and helped to lead the program to the Division III National Championship.

A two-sport student-athlete at SUNY Plattsburgh, she excelled in both volleyball and track and field and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2024. Named the 2013 SUNYAC Player of the Year, she was also honored as an AVCA All-Region and All-American player to cap her impressive time as a Division III student-athlete.

As a member of the 2013 squad, she led the Cardinals and the SUNYAC with a kills per set average of 3.50, which was also the 73rd-highest figure in all of NCAA Division III volleyball. She added at least 10 kills in all but five of the Cardinals’ 32 matches and collected her 1,000th kill in Memorial Hall during a 3-2 loss to St. Lawrence (10/8/2013) and entered the 1,000 dig club by scooping up 17 during a 3-2 win over SUNYAC rival Brockport (9/28/2013).  Over the course of her career, she tallied 1,183 kills and 1,282 digs. Among her many awards, she was selected to represent Plattsburgh State on four all-tournament teams through 2013 and also earned a spot on the SUNYAC Volleyball Championship All-Tournament team by averaging 14 kills and 15 digs in two matches. She parlayed her on-court prowess into SUNYAC Player of the Year, AVCA All-New York Region, ECAC Metro/Upstate Second Team All-Star and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American accolades.

Cummings, a 2013 graduate from Plattsburgh, holds her undergraduate degree in business administration.
