Brett Kaminski, formerly the assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at Ferrum College, was announced as the new head baseball coach of Roanoke College in August 2024.
Kaminski was a large part in bringing in 65 student-athletes to the Ferrum baseball program the last two years through the recruiting process. In 2024, the Panthers led the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with 101 stolen bases and Ferrum had a team batting average of .304. The lineup included two players that hit over .420. Kaminski practice planned for all team activities, including weightlifting and conditioning, and also served as hitting instructor and outfield coach.
“Taking on the role of head coach for Roanoke College baseball is an incredible honor,” said Kaminski. “I want to thank the administration for their trust in me, and my family for their constant support. I’m excited to build on this program’s strong foundation, instill a culture of hard work and dedication, and lead these young men to new heights. Together, we’ll strive for excellence on and off the field.”
Kaminski came to Ferrum from NCAA Div. II Tiffin University in Ohio, where he was an assistant coach responsible for player development and recruiting. In 2021, Tiffin’s offense ranked first in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) in batting average, runs scored, hits, doubles, walks, and on-base percentage. The Dragons were also ranked in the top 50 nationally in batting average, hits, walks and on-base percentage. Tiffin went on to place five position players on the GMAC All-Conference team in that season.
Prior to Tiffin, Kaminski spent two years at NAIA school Webber International University in central Florida, where he was a graduate assistant and an assistant coach. The Warriors were nationally recognized in 2019 & 2020 and fell just one win short of the program’s first NAIA World Series appearance in 2019.
Kaminski attended and played baseball at Webber International from 2016-18. He was a member of the three teams that won more games (in that span) than any other team in program history. In 2016, the Webber offense set new records for runs scored, home runs, extra base hits, total bases, and stolen bases. In 2017, Webber made its first NAIA Tournament appearance and set a program record for season wins. The 2018 Warriors clinched the program’s first conference title in the Sun Conference Tournament and made another NAIA playoff appearance.

Kaminski earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Business Management in 2018, and his master’s degree in Criminal Justice Management in 2020 from Webber International. He and his wife Katelyn Kaminski, the RC competitive cheerleading coach, live in Roanoke with their one-year-old daughter, Kinsley.

Matt Wojciechowski joins us from Reston, VA where he graduated from South Lakes High School in 2015. Following high school, Wojciechowski went to Chesapeake College on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. After 2 years of baseball, Matt transferred to Roanoke College where he played under Coach Matt Mcguire and eventually graduated with a Business Administration degree in 2020. Since graduating, Wojciechowski has been coaching at South Lakes High School running the offense and infield instruction where he helped lead them to their first state tournament appearance in over 20 years. In addition, he has been coaching in the Northern Virginia College League since 2021 where he worked with hitters and infielders for both the Yard Dogs and Chili Dogs.
Wojciechowski accepted the Assistant Coach job in September 2023 where he will lead the offense and work with both infielders and outfielders.
Dave is from Chicago, Illinois, where he was one of the most highly recruited high school baseball players in Illinois. He was one of the top hitters in the state, hitting home runs measuring 500+ feet. He was also a top pitcher while playing at John F. Kennedy high school tossing two career No-Hitters. He played with the 1979 Connie Mack World Series Champions from Chicago. He was drafted in the 4th round and signed with the San Diego Padres in the 1980 Major League Draft. Dave spent three seasons in the Padres Farm system, before he was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 1983. He played one season in the Tigers farm system before retiring from professional baseball and coming back to live in Salem in 1984. He had a career .249 Batting Average and hit 59 HR in 3 1/2 seasons.
Dave opened The Rip City Baseball Training Center in 1997. He has 40+ years of baseball experience and has coached and trained players of all ages. He was the manager of The Salem Post 3 American Legion Baseball Team from 1997-2011. He founded and coached the Rip City H.S. Showcase Team (for college bound high school players) from 1997- 2011 and has been instrumental in many players going on to play college and professional baseball. In 2012 he was inducted into the Roanoke-Salem Baseball Hall of Fame.
He offers professional one on one training in hitting, pitching, catching, infielding, outfielding, baserunning, and baseball-specific strength and conditioning. He teaches the most effective methods used in MLB today. He has also been active on the Christian Missions Field, directing baseball camps and taking local youth baseball players with him to Nicaragua to share God’s word while playing and teaching baseball.

Who can participate at your camps?
Our camps are open to all baseball players, regardless of skill level, age, grade level, or gender. We welcome beginners looking to learn the game as well as advanced players seeking to enhance their skills.

Our camps boast a highly qualified and experienced coaching staff. Instructors include Roanoke Baseball Coaches, and current players. This ensures that participants receive top-notch instruction from experts who are dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young athletes.
What safety measures are in place?
The safety of our campers is of utmost importance to us. We maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to all necessary health and safety guidelines. Our staff is trained to provide proper supervision and ensure that all equipment is in good condition.
How can I register my child for this camp?
Registration for our camps can be completed online through Play’n Sports software. The registration process will require basic information about your child, such as name, age/grade, emergency contact details, and any medical considerations. Specific instructions and registration deadlines will be available on the camp website.

What do I need to bring to camp?
Attendees are expected to bring their own baseball equipment to camp. We will not provide bats, gloves, or any kind of protective equipment.
Can parents/guardians stay and watch camp?
Yes! Parents/guardians are more than welcome to stay and watch camp.
