Mini Defensive Camp

Southern Wesleyan University Baseball would like to introduce you to our Inaugural Winter Mini Series! This is a great way to focus on improving your craft! The Mini Defensive Camp is designed to enhance the development within all aspects of Defense. Each player who attends will be provided a packet of drills and information so they can continue to improve on their own. We will also incorporate a classroom section to discuss a variety of offensive topics and provided a Q&A for the players.

Tentative Schedule:

8:30-9:00am: Check in
* There will be a table set up at the top of the facility, just below the entrance staircase

9:00- 9:45am: Classroom Session
* Each player will receive a packet with drills, pictures, philosophies, and overall defensive information. The classroom session will consist of an interactive presentation, along with a Q&A after.

9:45- 10:15am: Dynamic Warm-Up and Throw
*Player will participate in the exact warm-up that SWU Baseball Players do every time before they play/practice

10:15- 10:45am: Development Rotation 1
*Development Rotation 1 will consist of 3 groups split up. These groups will rotate around 3 different development stations where a member of the coaching staff is providing specific development for that station.

10:45-11:15am: Defensive Rotation 1
*Offensive Rotation 1 will allow the players to know execute the specific stations that were previously discussed by the SWU Coaching Staff.
Station 1: Straight Up Ground Balls (Infield), Fly Balls/Routes (Outfielders), Receiving (Catchers)
Station 2: Double Plays (Infield), Ground Balls (Outfielders), Blocking (Catchers)
Station 3: Covering Throws (Infield), Cuts/Relays (Outfield), Throwing (Catchers)

11:15-12:00pm: Team Defense
*We will run through 3 different Team Defense style practices.
1) Cuts/Relays
2) Pop Up Priority
3) Pre-Game I/O
