Faulds comes to Akron with two decades of coaching experience at the collegiate level. He spent the last two seasons as head coach at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, where he led the Hilltoppers to a 72-43 overall record and 34-13 mark in the Lone Star Conference, advancing to the NCAA DII South Central Regional in both campaigns.
In 2023, St. Edward’s completed the season ranked No. 20 in the NCAA Division II National Rankings by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The Hilltoppers finished third in the region and second in league play on the strength of a 40-17 overall record and 34-13 LSC ledger, while producing an All-American in Luke Short.
In his first season at the helm, Faulds led St. Edward’s to a 32-25 record, including a 27-21 mark in conference play. The Hilltoppers advanced to the LSC semifinals and earned an NCAA South Central Regional bid, falling one game short of the NCAA Super Regionals. The season produced three All-Region players, including South Central Region Pitcher of the Year and All-American Wesley Gafford.
Prior to being named head coach at SEU he served as the Hilltoppers’ pitching coach for four seasons. During his time as pitching coach, St. Edward’s produced two MLB draft picks, two All-America selections, two South Central Region Pitcher of the Year awards, four All-Region selections, seven All-Conference selections, including a conference Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards.
Prior to his time at St. Edwards, Faulds spent two seasons in the Mid-American Conference at Ohio University. From 2015-17, he was the pitching coach at Ohio, where the Bobcats’ staff set the single-season school record for strikeouts (483) in 2017. In addition, Ohio won the 2017 MAC Tournament, earning an NCAA Tournament bid behind two all-conference pitchers and three MAC all-tournament pitchers.
A native of San Ramon, Calif., Faulds began his coaching career at the College of San Mateo in California. He started his collegiate playing career there and later coached for six years, working his way up to associate head coach and interim coach in 2013. Faulds helped lead San Mateo to three conference championships, six regional appearances, and four super-regional appearances while developing numerous all-conference pitchers and NCAA Division I transfers.
As a player at San Mateo, Faulds pitched from 2004-2006 before transferring to Western Illinois University. At San Mateo, Faulds helped the program to an overall record of 64-19 in two years as the captain of the pitching staff. Faulds led the team in saves (six) at Western Illinois and had the second-most appearances (17).
Faulds earned his bachelor of arts degree in recreation, park, and tourism administration in 2009 and a master of arts degree in kinesiology from Saint Mary’s College (Calif.) in 2012. He resides in Copley, Ohio.
Salisbury was hired as the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at the University of Akron in July of 2023.
He previously was with the Southeastern Baseball coaching staff in July 2020. He spent the 2021 season as assistant pitching coach and camp coordinator. In 2022 he was promoted to pitching coach. In 2022, SLU was a regional participant in the Auburn Regional. In 2023, the SLU pitching staff finished 72nd in the country in ERA and compiled 6 ranked wins in his time as pitching coach at SLU.
Freshman right-hander Brennan Stuprich enjoyed a breakout season, being named the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year in addition to earning multiple Freshman All-America honors. He joined with right-hander Will Warren to form the top 1-2 punch in the conference, ranking in the Southland’s Top 5 in ERA, Wins and Innings Pitched. After the 2021 season, Warren was selected in the 21st round of the MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. After the 2023 season, Andrew Landry was selected in the 16th round of the MLB Draft by the New York Yankees.
Salisbury came to SLU after serving as the Director of Pitching Development at his alma mater, Ohio University, in 2020. He spent the previous season there as a graduate assistant coach. A four-year letter winner, he averaged 7.2 K/9 in 248 career innings and compiled a 2.0 K/BB ratio. Salisbury logged a team-high in starts, innings pitched and strikeouts in both 2017 and 2018. The left-hander from Brunswick, Ohio helped lead the Bobcats to the 2015 and 2017 MAC Tournament championships, earning a start against Indiana in NCAA Regional action. Following his collegiate career, Salisbury played two years of professional baseball for the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers in the United Shore League. Salisbury earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2017 and a master’s degree in coaching education in 2019, both from Ohio. He resides in Akron, Ohio.
Witt was hired as the hitting coach at the University of Akron in July of 2024.
Entering his second season at Akron, Witt moves into the hitting coach position for the first time after serving as the volunteer assistant in 2024. Witt comes from Missouri State University where he served as a student and graduate assistant for four years. Helping the Bears to an NCAA regional in 2022, Witt also played a big role in the development of 2023 MLB fifth rounder Spencer Nivens (Kansas City Royals). Nivens also earned Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year honors as well all-defensive team in the outfield.
Before his stint with Missouri State, Witt played for Campbell University and helped the Camels win a Big South Championship in 2019. Witt also was a member of junior college powerhouse Crowder College in 2017 and 2018. Witt helped the Roughriders qualify for the NJCAA Division 1 World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado for just the second time in program history. Witt earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 2021 and a master’s degree in sport’s management in 2023, both from Missouri State. He resides in Akron, Ohio.
Van Remortel was hired as the third assistant at the University of Akron in July of 2024.
Van Remortel spent the 2024 season at the University of Michigan as a student assistant coach. He spent four seasons as a player with the Wolverines and played in 106 career games.
In his four seasons, he hit .264 with 70 hits and seven home runs. He played in 52 games in his final season and was third on the team in home runs. Van Remortel helped the Wolverines with a walk-off home run against Central Michigan in 2023. He also spent one season Umpqua Community College where he played in all 37 games for the team and led Umpqua in most batting categories.
Van Remortel earned a bachelor’s degree in sport’s management in 2023 and a Real Estate Development Certificate in 2024. He resides in Akron, Ohio.

NCAA Disclaimer
According to NCAA rules and regulations, all camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants regardless of skill/level (limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender.)
What happens to equipment left behind?
We highly recommended that you clearly mark all equipment your child brings to camp. Any items that are left behind will be kept for 1 week following the last day of camp before being donated to the local parks and recreation. Our Baseball Camps takes no responsibility for any items that are lost or stolen.
What to bring
ELITE CAMPS
Each camper must bring his or her own baseball equipment. Players should bring a helmet, glove, bat, cleats/spikes, running shoes or turf shoes, hat, and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Catchers must bring their own gear.
YOUTH CAMPS
Each camper is encouraged to bring his or her own baseball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, cleats, running shoes or turf shoes, hat, helmet, and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Catchers must bring their own gear. We recommend bringing sunscreen during the summer. We also advise youth campers to wear proper baseball attire but it is not necessary to participate in camp.
Are Akron Baseball Camps a good fit for my kid?
Our camps welcome all participants, regardless of skill level. Registration is on a first come, first served basis as long as the registrant is within the specified range of ages.
What happens if their is inclement weather?
We have plans in place for all of our camps to run whether rain or shine. We will communicate any changes made to camp through the email provided during registration if the weather forecast looks like it will prevent us from being on the field. Players should bring appropriate footwear for any indoor activities i.e. sneakers or turf shoes.
Can parents watch camps?
Parents are highly encouraged to observe their child’s participation in camp.
Coaches will be happy to answer any questions after the camp is over regarding what we worked on at camp that day. For safety and liability reasons, at no time is a non-camper allowed on the playing surface.
