The Purple & Gold Skills Basketball Elite Camps are designed specifically for advanced high school players who are serious about playing at the collegiate level. Led by Head Coach Jonathan Tsipis and his coaching staff, these high-intensity, one-day camps provide prospective student-athletes with a comprehensive experience that mirrors the demands and expectations of a Division I basketball program.

Throughout each session, players will participate in college-level drills, individual skill development, position-specific instruction, team concepts, and live competitive play. In addition to on-court training, athletes will receive valuable exposure to the Catamount coaching philosophy, culture, and the daily standards that define WCU Women’s Basketball.

Camp Includes:

Positionless Skill Development Stations: Players rotate through small-group stations focusing on core fundamentals. Each station is designed for maximum reps, coach interaction, and position-neutral improvement.

Team Concepts & IQ Building: Campers will be introduced to offensive spacing, movement without the ball, and basic sets to develop a more complete understanding of game strategy and team execution.

Live 3-on-3 & 5-on-5 Scrimmage Play: Half-court and full-court games with coaching on the floor allow players to immediately apply skills and learn in real-time. Emphasis is placed on team play, communication, and coachability.

Shooting Competitions & Games: Players participate in competitive shooting challenges designed to test focus under pressure while having fun.

Guest Speaker Session: Hear from a current player or coach about the life of a student-athlete, the recruiting journey, and what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level—plus an open Q&A to get real answers from real players.

Camp Awards & Recognition: We celebrate more than just skill. Awards are given for hustle, leadership, improvement, three-point accuracy, and heart—the qualities every team needs to win.

This is a unique opportunity for recruits to be evaluated in a focused, instructional environment while learning what it takes to compete at the next level. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills or gain insight into the recruiting process, our Elite Camp is the perfect setting to challenge yourself and stand out.

Jonathan Tsipis (pronounced SIP-iss) is the head women’s basketball coach at Western Carolina University, bringing over 27 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Catamounts. He was appointed as the program’s 14th head coach on April 5, 2024. In his inaugural season, Tsipis led WCU to 13 wins—the program’s highest total since the 2013–14 season—and secured its first victory at Samford since 2009, marking a significant turnaround for the team.

Before joining Western Carolina, Tsipis served as the Advisor for Scouting and Analytics at Marquette University from 2022 to 2024. During his tenure, the Golden Eagles achieved back-to-back 20-win seasons and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

Tsipis’s head coaching career includes successful stints at George Washington University (2012–2016) and the University of Wisconsin (2016–2021). At George Washington, he transformed the program into a national contender, leading the Colonials to a 92–38 record over four seasons. His teams won consecutive Atlantic 10 regular-season and tournament titles in 2015 and 2016, with Tsipis earning A-10 Coach of the Year honors in 2015.

Prior to his head coaching roles, Tsipis was a key figure on the University of Notre Dame’s women’s basketball staff under Hall of Fame coach Muffet McGraw from 2003 to 2012. As associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, he contributed to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including five Sweet 16s and two national runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2012.
